As a 21 year old in the year 2021, I am in the age group who has grown alongside technology. When I was about five years old, I remember thinking my mom’s Razor phone and my dad’s BlackBerry were just about the coolest things that could exist. About ten years later, I found myself owning my first Iphone with an Instagram account, Facebook, and Twitter. Now, I am 21 and watching technology completely surpass the expectations of just about everybody on the planet. With self driving cars, Apple Pay, and many other amazing technologies we have nowadays, it led me to wonder what new technology could possibly be coming out. After doing some research on new, innovative, technology coming out in 2021, I have found myself very interested in smart glasses.

So, what exactly are smart glasses? Basically just what they sound like. They are somewhat like a smartphone, but in glasses form. They are a high tech form of eyeglasses with a computer inside that allow them to display information using AR or augmented reality. This technology works by mixing virtual reality and the real world to create live video imagery. Google Glass is an awesome form of this, but they are still very new and have a lot of work to be done. As for right now though they are capable of doing things like tracking data such as a users health and providing navigational directions. Now only this, they also have the ability to show incoming texts and phone calls. Google Glass also has developed the ability to function as a recorder and spy camera, working by hand gestures and voice commands. Crazy, right?

Well from what it seems, this is just the beginning for smart glasses. Although they are more for personal use right now, in the future these may be used in all aspects of life, one example being the workplace. From construction to offices to who knows what else, smart glasses could have many possible uses, such as using them to give a presentation instead of reading off a pad of paper or a smartphone. I can personally see smart glasses being a way people will read books without having to hold anything such as a book or kindle.

Overall, smart glasses are such an interesting new technology, and the opportunities for them seem endless. I am excited to see what’s in store for smart glasses in the future.
